oliver turns 1!

last weekend was the weekend of birthday parties (3 of them) and dottie really went with it. enjoying cake and cupcakes, slaying dinosaur pinatas, pin the tail on the donkey, jumpy castles, lollipops, favors, .... it was definitely a fun weekend! the first pictures are from oliver's 1st birthday party at brian, marla, and oliver's house in petaluma.

budding artist

dottie received a fabulous set of art materials from our good friends dave, julie, lily, and andrew for her birthday complete with smock and waterproof tablecloth to avoid mess! today was the first time we have really pulled them out and dottie had a ball with them. funny thing is that she really only wanted to use the black paint. she was really proud of all of the paintings she painted and was sure to show chuck right when he came home from work exclaiming, "i painted it!" over and and over again.

friends

chuck was out of town for six days this past week on his annual snowboarding trip to nelson, bc with friends. dottie and i kept ourselves very occupied while he was gone and were fortunate to have some nice friends come over for dinner. these pictures are of dottie with hannah and francois who came over with our friend allie. she had a silly time with them and at one point had such a case of the giggles that she was drooling. she also insisted that we all wear cowboy hats.

this morning, dottie's school was invited to a puppet show at a new art studio for kids that's close by. they invited us to come along even thought dottie doesn't attend on fridays and we of course said yes! dottie LOVED it and i must say, i enjoyed it too.
