my teeth hurt

rough times for dottie.
4 teeth all at once.

(notice the airplane book in her hand. it's pretty much been in her hand since i bought it 3 days ago. VERY into airplanes right now! when one flies over and then out of sight, she says, "mo, mo, mo..." as if we can make another one appear. very exciting that we will be flying again this saturday...)

the pool

this past sunday, we changed plans last minute and went to a public pool in palo alto at the recommendation of our friend penny. we don't get many days that are really hot in san francisco so it was great to go south of the city to warmer climates to have a little time to swim and sit in the sun. it was so great because it had a huge wading pool for dottie to play around. it also had a slide which i think she must have gone down at least 20 times. dottie is still taking a swim class once a week and she has just gotten to the point where she is feeling really confident in the pool. what a fun day!

more readers

this past friday evening, dottie was happy to recruit more readers into our house. sonia and erin came over for a lovely evening and dottie was thrilled to have them. nothing like more people to read her GINGERBREAD BABY (a book that dottie LOVES and chuck and i have read so many times that we have really grown to cringe when we see it! thank goodness for friends.). reading and just plain silliness ensued. check out the video to hear dottie's squeals of delight...

playdate

this past thursday, our friends anne and sam had us over for a playdate along with basak and lula. the kids had a ball running around with each other and the moms enjoyed chatting it up. anne made a delicious batch of banana bread that i am still thinking about it because it was so delicious. here are a couple of pictures from our playdate...

dottie and lily listening to tunes during a drive in minneapolis... dottie gets giggly at the end of the video which is pretty darn sweet. notice how dottie is really checking out what lily is doing because of course, lily is the coolest!!! she was the cat's meow to dottie! (lily is the daughter of some very good family friends of ours who live in rochester, mn)

minneapolis 2009

tuesday we returned from an action packed trip to minnesota. dottie couldn't have been a better traveler and was a trooper throughout the whole trip. we saw my parents, cousins, aunt, and uncle on the front end and chuck's parents and family friends the lindens on the back end with an added bonus of seeing out friends luke and laura and their baby leif and an old friend from paper source, joni (unfortunately we spaced on taking pictures). from the pictures you might be asking yourself "where the heck are they?". we stayed at my kathy's house for the first couple of nights they have just about every piece of sports equipment you could possibly imagine with 2 active boys running around. dottie jumped on their trampoline, played hockey, skateboarded, rocked out to guitar hero... the last 3 nights we stayed at the waterpark of america near the mall of america. we ended up having a really fantastic time there and dottie zoomed down a good number of the water slides (even one that mom was hesitant to try! she clapped afterwards and screamed "more, more, more"). the highlight of the visit for dottie was of course seeing both sets of grandparents!!!!

lily and dottie

we are back!

we got back from a VERY fun trip to minneapolis this morning. LOADS of pictures to go through! until then, a picture of dottie at the airport before we left checking out (and obsessing over) the planes outside. she loves planes like crazy right now! also a picture of the 3 of us on our trip that was taken on a trampoline at my cousin's house.

for the past 5 months or so, kate, an old friend/employee from paper source has been caring for dottie 2-3 days a week while i work. i just realized a couple of days ago that she is such a big part of dottie's life and i have never written about her. here is a picture of kate and dottie drawing. i must say that it is a great feeling to know that the person who is watching dottie when we aren't is someone who make her so happy! she absolutely loves her!

the moose without the bear

this past saturday, we headed over to penny and jason's for a delicious steak dinner. wyatt ("bear", their 3 1/2 year old) was at his grandma's so malcolm ("moose", 15 months) and dottie got to have some major hangout time. they got silly together and ended up the tub which in turn ended up with two naked babies running around.
