mexico

we are on holiday for a week right now in mexico and we are having a blast! dottie has just learned to wave (with a bit of help from her aunt stephanie when she came to visit) so is waving to everyone we meet when they greet her in spanish. it is too cute! here is a picture of her dipping her feet into the ocean the evening we got here. will post more sooon...

across the bridge

my friend basak and i headed over the bridge (with dottie and lula) to berkeley last week to see our friends marie and siena. just thought i would post a couple of pictures from the visit. it is crazy how much more interactive they are with each other than even 2 weeks ago. it is also crazy how much they cried on the way back over the bridge... basak and i almost lost it!

a visit from zack

our friend laura and her little guy zack came for a visit from boston this week. anna and i took our girls and met up with them at the playground. dottie thought zack was pretty darn cute and so did we!

dottie got a chance to watch her auntie steph play flute during her visit. (stephanie plays for the Metropolitan Opera in NYC). dottie thought it was pretty cool and even tried to play a bit. unfortunately she is a bit of a drooler!

a little music

last friday, the woman who hosted our mom's group asked her husband to play music for all of the babies. he does this professionally for schools in the area so it was a real treat for all of us. dottie was totally mesmerized by him and smiled and bounced the whole time he sang. after the music, he let the kids play with an instrument...

and fortune makes 3!

we watched fortune last weekend and had a super fun time with him. i will say, our dog walks were a little more complicated...

a helping hand...

anna and her two girls, aida (3) and zayneb (1), watched dottie for several hours today while i did some work for dutch door press. aida was sweet enough to help feed dottie before her nap.

stephanie and paul are visiting from NY this and dottie has been loving all of the attention. we took a LONG walk with them yesterday to show them some of the fun haunts in our neighborhood. this picture was taken in front of a favorite restaurant called delfina

7 months old (and 2 days if you're counting!)

thursday dottie was 7 months old. we really can't believe how fast it has gone though every day is more fun than the next (not including night wake ups of course)

at this point in her life she......
- JUST learned to crawl yesterday. form this point on, life is going to be so different. we've got to go out and get gates this weekend for the steps
-is obsessed with books by the author karen katz. they are "lift the flap" books and she loves seeing what's behind the flap. we read to her before she goes to bed or down for a nap and we keep the books to the right of the rocking chair. after every book, she leans over the side of the chair to look for the next book. it's pretty cute!
-makes funny farting noises with her mouth/tongue and slobbers all over herself while doing it. she thinks it's pretty funny and usually looks at you while she's doing it as if she is having a conversation with you.
-pulls herself up on the side of her crib and looks over a milo after her naps and laughs with glee.
-got her second cold in life recently and because she couldn't breathe through her nose, has picked up this weird habit of sticking her tongue out most of the day. hmmmmm?
-loves food, especially butternut squash, pears, and jarred peas. coughs when she sees the bowl of food which is what she has always done when she is hungry
-laughs when she see any stuffed animal with a face. it's pretty funny how fascinated she is with them!
-is pretty sociable. people always comment when they see her that she seems to always be smiling
-loves looking in the mirror
-is still totally in love with her furry brother milo
-splashes like crazy in the bath
-still looks so much like her daddy that even strangers comment about it to us (her mommy in the eyes i think and so do others!)
-loves her monkey more than any other toy she has
-responds to her name
-can go to a sit from lying down....

finally

after 5 weeks of rocking back and forth, dottie has gone mobile

tahoe

this weekend we went to tahoe with our friends (penny, jason, wyatt, and malcolm, and brian and marla). unfortunately, dottie got a cold right before we left so she was a full of snots all weekend and a little surly at times but powered through it. the weekend was a ton of fun and we were able to do quite a bit of relaxing. dottie loved watching wyatt run around and play ball and her friend malcolm was just as sweet and as chill as can be.

dottie and lulu got a laugh out of the mom's and music teacher at music class the other day when they decided to eat one of the prop's (the same one of course!) that we were using.

it is grey and foggy in sf this morning (big shocker!) so we got all bundled up to go on our walk this morning. we decided to put on this cute fleece hat that was given to us by our friend's janey and simon. up until now, it has been too big for dottie's noggin'!

goodnight daddy

chuck is away on a business trip in mechanicsburg, pennsylvania right now (this is so in the middle of nowhere that the highest rating on any hotels in the town is 1 star!).

dottie wants to say goodnight! she can't wait to see you on thursday.
